Core Values

Educate, Encourage, Empower

“Not every disease is curable, but every symptom is treatable…in palliative care we acknowledge that everyone has a story and we ensure their story is heard.”

— Julissa Leal Derringer, RN BSN
2024 President Elect, San Antonio Regional HPNA

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association was established in 1986 and is the national professional organization that represents the specialty of palliative nursing, which includes hospice and palliative nurses. We support the profession through education programs, research initiatives, and advocacy.
